As soon as Chang Zhonghua, a janitor working at Liaoning University, finishes her work at 5 pm she jumps on her bike and starts looking around the newly built apartment buildings close to the university. Her handbag is always crammed with brochures and handouts featuring these well-appointed properties.
The reason for her interest is simple: "I want to sell my apartment in my hometown and ask my son and daughter-in-law to live with me here in Shenbei," Chang says.
Chang is 50-years- old and a native of Tieling County in the province of Liaoning. Her hometown neighbors the Shenbei New District in Shenyang, capital of Liaoning. She has been working in Shenbei for six months and now plans to re-unite her family in a new apartment in the area.
