NEW YORK: New Jersey netminder Martin Brodeur recorded his 100th regular-season shutout as the host Devils blanked the Philadelphia Flyers 3-0 in a clash of the Atlantic Division's top two teams on Sunday.
The 36-year-old Brodeur moved within three shutouts of all-time leader Terry Sawchuk with his 27 saves. It was his second shutout in three outings after being sidelined for 50 games following elbow surgery.
"It's a big number," Brodeur told reporters after reaching the milestone. "It's kind of hard to believe. When you get to a round number it looks better."
