China Daily | Updated: 2009-02-27 07:42

President Obama yesterday asked the Congress for more funds to cover the country's war efforts while expressing the intention to contain the growth of war costs in recent years.

The president said the true costs of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan will no longer be "left off the books."

According to the budget plan released by the White House, Obama will seek $205.5 billion for wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, including $75.5 billion through the end of this fiscal year, and $130 billion for fiscal year 2010.
