Bank nationalization

Nigel Lawson, the longest serving chancellor of the exchequer under Margaret Thatcher, said the UK government may have to nationalize more banks to quell turmoil in financial markets.

The lawmaker, who serves in the House of Lords and worked as finance minister from 1983 to 1989, also criticized Prime Minister Gordon Brown's handling of the economy, saying the government is depending too much on help from overseas.
