News channels integrate PRD area

GUANGZHOU: Two local television news channels here started broadcasting in the neighboring city of Foshan, while one from Foshan started airing its news in Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province, yesterday.

The move, expected to boost integration of information sources between the two cities, comes after a recent central government plan to deepen reform and opening up in the Pearl River Delta region.

As part of the plan, which was approved at the end of last year, integration, in terms of social and economic development of Guangzhou and Foshan, should be strengthened.
