Clinton visit hailed as success

China has hailed US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's trip to Beijing as beneficial to bilateral ties.

"Through the visit, the two countries have improved mutual understanding ... which will help bilateral relations develop in a sound and stable manner in a new era," Foreign Ministry spokesman Ma Zhaoxu told a regular briefing yesterday.

"Both China and the US attach great importance to their relations and are sincerely keen to further relations."
