China's day out on ice

HARBIN, Heilongjiang province: Chinese women's short-track speed skaters continued their domination on ice as they swept the honors of the 500m race at the ongoing 24th Winter Universiade here on Friday.

Liu Qiuhong claimed the gold at the all-Chinese final clocking 44.862 seconds, followed by Li Wenwen at 44.929 seconds and Meng Xiaoxue at 45.084 seconds.

"We were very relaxed about the race since all the finalists were Chinese," said Liu, who won a silver medal in the women's 1,500m short-track on Thursday. "Our team is strong in this event and we just did our best here."
