UK rock geeks get sharp

China Daily | Updated: 2009-02-21 08:04

With hip-hop musician MC Frontalot and Canadian actor Michael Cera making girls swoon, The Young Knives (TYK) are a UK geek rock band, whose lyrics give hope to lonely women. TYK have taken their brand of English eccentricity to Texas, headlined Hong Kong's inaugural Clockenflap festival and will now be getting their geek on in Beijing's Mao Livehouse.

Featured Henry Dartnall on vocals and guitar, Oliver Askew on drums and Thomas Dartnall on bass, TYK have been enchanting critics, fans and record execs for several years.

The trio initially started out playing local gigs near Leicester in UK's Midlands but a move to Oxford in 2002 gave them their big break and an appearance at the Truck Festival.
