No one heard Federer crying out for help

By Xiong Lei | China Daily | Updated: 2009-02-21 08:03

Millions of people across the world watched the Australian Open final, yet again highlighting the Nadal-Federer rivalry, earlier this month. Yet, I wonder, while praising or criticizing the players' performances, how many of us could actually see that Federer was desperate for help, psychological that is.

Switzerland's Roger Federer definitely needed psychological counseling during the match. Spaniard Rafael Nadal didn't win. Federer lost.

I am not great fan of tennis. But I do know one of the great charms of the sport is that the player is dependant on no one else but himself on the court.
