Hunters become prey in plot to protect rare birds

A sting to snare hunters targeting protected birds in forests in Xining, capital of Qinghai province, has resulted in 10 arrests.

The operation, which was launched in December last year and wrapped up this month, followed reports poachers had been capturing the birds before selling them on. Police seized 76 dead birds, including golden eagles, eagle gypaetus, vultures, steppe eagles and tetrao galluses.
