Master chefs from top restaurants around the country gathered in Beijing last week to wow diners with China's most famous dishes.

They believe their centuries' old cooking techniques deserve to be ranked among the world's most important intangible cultural heritage.

Chef Chen Lixin was cooking up a storm in a restaurant near the National Agricultural Exhibition Center, where the expo was held.
