Shares rebound

Chinese shares rose on Friday for the fifth consecutive week on optimism that government spending would revive growth and bolster corporate earnings.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index closed the week 6.4 percent higher and rose 3.2 percent, or 72.7 points, to close at 2320.79 on Friday. The Shenzhen Composite Index climbed 3.6 percent to 749.31.
