Peugeot reports loss

PSA Peugeot Citroen, Europe's second-biggest carmaker, reported a loss for 2008 after the region's auto-sales slump gathered pace in the company's home market and said it will lose money again this year.

The net loss was 343 million euros compared with net income of 885 million euros a year earlier, the Paris-based carmaker said in a statement yesterday. The results missed analysts' estimates for net income and revenue, which fell 7.4 percent to 54.4 billion euros.
