US female badminton team visits Iran

WASHINGTON: A US women badminton team will visit Iran this week as part of a broad bid to engage the Iranian people through educational and cultural exchanges, the US Department of State said on Monday.

The team, including eight athletes and four coaches and managers, will compete at the Fajr International Badminton Tournament at the invitation of the Iranian Badminton Federation, which begins on Friday. The US team is sponsored by the US Department of State.

In July the Iranian Badminton Federation is expected to visit the US for the US Open.
