Girl survives bird flu

The 3-year-old girl who was infected with bird flu in January was discharged from hospital yesterday, the provincial health authorities said.

The girl contracted the disease in Hunan province on Jan 17 after she had contact with chickens at a marketplace and her mother died of serious lung problems. She is the first one among the eight bird flu patients this year to recover.
