Olympic venue has all the bells and whistles

China Daily | Updated: 2009-01-30 07:32

The 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver, Canada, is just over a year away and, one incident apart, the venue is already earning high praise.

Officials in the ski resort of Whistler recently opened the 4.5-km-long Peak 2 Peak gondola, the longest and highest unsupported lift in the world.

Visitors should be aware that the 11-minute ride could also cause an acute attack of acrophobia as the gondola, which has a glass bottom, travels between the two peaks 436 m over the valley.
