Mobile phone growth

The low penetration of mobile phones in China's rural areas offers strong growth potential for the sector in the coming years, Fitch Ratings said in a recent report.

The rating agency estimated that overall mobile phone penetration in China stands at a relatively low of 45.6 percent, compared with 66.8 percent in eastern provinces of the country. The middle and western parts register a much lower penetration level of 38 percent.
