Secret squirrels keep British Cycling on track

As Olympic veteran Rob Hayles propelled a rider nearly half his age around Laoshan Velodrome on Sunday to earn a silver medal in the men's Madison - one of the few chinks in British Cycling's armor - talk of the squad peaking too soon at Beijing 2008 grated with its grand designs for 2012.

"This year is all about making mistakes, with an eye to rebuilding and consolidating for the Games in London," new performance manager (track) Heiko Salzwedel told China Daily on the final day of the Track Cycling World Cup Classics' fourth leg in the Chinese capital.

"We'll definitely aim to win a gold medal in every event (at the next Olympics).
