Forgers beware, warn police

By Zhu Zhe | China Daily | Updated: 2009-01-22 07:43

A 10-month campaign to combat currency counterfeiting got under way yesterday, the Ministry of Public Security said on its website.

"Action 09" will target the crimes of producing, selling and passing counterfeit money across the country, with particular emphasis on Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian, Zhejiang, Henan, Hunan, Sichuan, Anhui, Yunnan and Jiangxi, which are considered "high risk" areas, the statement said.

This campaign is the first by police since reports of high-quality fake 100-yuan notes began appearing at the start of the year.
