Playing in Piano in the key of Italy
Va Piano Italian restaurant ( 意秀意大利餐厅) provides what it is named after: a slow meal. Located on the second floor of the InterContinental Beijing Beichen, the restaurant faces south, and gets a large dose of sunlight during the daytime. Enjoy feeling sunlight warm your body and eating Italian delicacies, such as Parma ham, antipasti, pappardelle with Bolognese sauce, seafood risotto, and several choices of pizza with mozzarella. The main dishes - chicken, snapper, sirloin and lamb chops, are temptingly presented, and cooked to fit the Italian principle of cooking: simple but tasty.
Lobster and seabass cooked on heated stones a la minute, on the table, are phenomenal. These are served with a light saffron vegetable broth, along with fresh fennel, onion, oyster mushroom. For dessert there is espresso flavored flambe creme brulee, tiramisu, Italian cheesecake, and a selection of Italian cheeses. A good ending is an Italian coffee of your choice. The espresso is made with authentic Italian coffee beans, according to Jeff Cheng, director of food and beverage at the Hotel.
Salads and seafoods are fresh, the pizzas and pastas are tasty, and main courses are cooked with excellent skill. The decor is modern and refined. Your food is cooked in open kitchens and a salad room with transparent glass. Tables are made of wood and the chairs are soft-cushioned. The restaurant has a seating capacity for 100 people.
