Tsonga plans to gatecrash 'big four' in Melbourne

China Daily | Updated: 2009-01-15 08:00

SYDNEY: Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga said Tuesday his extra experience and improved backhand can help him upset the 'big four' at next week's Australian Open in Melbourne.

Pundits are tipping the winner of the year's opening grand slam tournament to come from the top-four ranked players - Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, defending champion Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray.

The 23-year-old from Le Mans exploded on to the scene in Melbourne at the start of last year when he reached the final as an unseeded player defeating Nadal in straight sets in the semifinals.
