Rebel peninsula captured
Sri Lanka's military says that its troops have seized a final strip of Tamil Tiger rebel-held land and secured total control of a key northern peninsula.
The Jaffna peninsula has long been seen as the symbolic heart of a 25-year-old separatist insurgency on the island.
