Ex-official gives his all to local students

An 85-year-old retired official in Weinan, Shaanxi province, has made waves in his local community for capping his steady donations to support local students with a 15,000 yuan ($2,200) fund.

Zhao Xuechao, supported by a 100-yuan monthly pension, first donated 500 yuan to a local school to aid its rebuilding in 1994. Since then, Zhao has continued to donate his money to support poor students.
