Xiamen has been particularly strong in the electronics, heavy machinery and chemical industries, with 956 large-scale enterprises producing 75 percent of the city's output.

The electronics industry produced 86.48 billion yuan worth of finished goods in 2006, 35.4 percent of the city's total.

Dell, Amoi and PMX are among the city's brand-name producers of computers and components, while Amoi and Legend are top manufacturers of mobile phones. Xoceco Electronics owns the Prima TV brand, while Amoi, Panasonic, PMX and CXEE are large producers of other audio and video equipment.
