DALIAN: Scholars and experts here have called on authorities to protect the city's Lushunkou district, formerly known as Port Arthur, as a heritage site.
"It is a matter of urgency that we protect the historical site while boosting economic development," said Wang Suying, chairwoman of Dalian Writers Association, while speaking at the on-going annual meeting of Dalian Committee of China People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).
Located at the extreme southern tip of the Liaodong Peninsula in Northeast China, Lushunkou district boasts of beautiful natural scenery and a violent history.
