In Wu Xiaokui's woodcuts, urban youth relocated for reeducation in the countryside appear happy and healthy, thriving under the peasants' ideological guidance.
"Her works are no different from any others by Socialist Realist artists," Sichuan province-based sociologist Luo Ming says.
"They are more interested in making politically correct - rather than morally upright - pieces criticizing the social structures underlying the political order.
