Romorantin and Ajaccio score French Cup upsets

PARIS: Fourth division Romorantin and second division Ajaccio provided the biggest upsets in the French Cup round of 64 by knocking out Ligue 1 sides Nancy and Auxerre respectively on Saturday.

Romorantin held visitors Nancy to a goalless draw after extra time and won a shootout 4-2.

Benoit Pedretti put home side Auxerre in front after 26 minutes but Ajaccio equalized nine minutes later through Cedric Uras and the game remained evenly balanced at 1-1 until the end of extra time. The Corsican club then won 3-1 on penalties.
