Motown becomes gridiron 'Woetown'

DETROIT: In a city routinely hammered by bad news, the headlines in Monday's papers lamenting the Detroit Lions' woeful 0-16 season packed only a glancing blow.
Detroiters are no strangers to hard times, having endured more than most in 2008 and after watching Ford, General Motors and Chrysler go begging to Congress for bailouts and mayor Kwame Kilpatrick head off to jail after a text message scandal, the sad sack Lions' woes seem tame in comparison.
Alongside skyrocketing unemployment, a reeling auto industry and a decaying city, the Lions are well down on Detroit's 'things to fix' list.
