Policy of equilibrium as well as pragmatism

China Daily | Updated: 2008-12-26 08:03

Development of multilateral cooperation with European countries is of real strategic interest to Kazakhstan's foreign policy, yet the potential of bilateral cooperation in technology, electricity infrastructure, transportation and trade is not fully realized.

For their part, European Union countries pay special attention to cooperation in Central Asia, particularly with Kazakhstan.

That position is reflected in the internal document "EU and Central Asia: New Partnership Strategy" issued at a EU summit in June 2007. The document had proposed increased cooperation between the EU, Central Asia and Kazakhstan.
