Just a hop, skip and jump away

It's tempting to veer from the straight and narrow when visiting the eastern starting point of the Great Wall, 15 km from downtown Dandong.

Located at the foot of Tiger Mountain, its watchtowers have outstanding views of the meandering Yalu River and the ancient city of Yizhou in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

A minibus will take you there for 5 yuan, but if you miss the stop don't worry. It will follow the river and Sino-Korea border to Peace Gulf Reservoir Tourist Area, where there's a dam.
