Poppy grower jailed for cultivating illegal 'pet'
A man was sentenced to a year in jail with a one-year suspended sentence for growing more than 630 opium poppies in his own backyard.
Zhang began growing the illegal plants in his courtyard in Shunyi on the outskirts of Beijing in September last year until neighbors discovered what he was up to.
