DETROIT: Pavel Datsyuk scored twice and Ty Conklin collected the shutout as the Detroit Red Wings showed their Stanley Cup pedigree by crushing the NHL's top team the San Jose Sharks 6-0 on Thursday.
It was just the fourth regulation loss and the first since Nov 9 for the Sharks, who made one of the best starts to an NHL season with their 25-3-2 record producing the most points ever over the first 30 games.
"When you're playing the top team that just broke a record for the first 30 games, you want to come out and play good against a team like that and I think we responded well tonight," Red Wings captain Nicklas Lidstrom said.
