Dirty dancing has its fans

Contemporary dance and documentary films were hot topics in Shenzhen last week, as the special economic zone held its first festival of contemporary arts.

From Dec 11 to 14, the Crossing Festival: OCAT Contemporary Dance and Documentary Forum 2008 presented four nights of contemporary dance theater and three days of screenings and forums of Chinese documentary films.

At the OCT Contemporary Art Terminal (OCAT), Chinese and foreign dancers not only gave formal performances indoors, but also improvised outside the loft-turned art space.
