Men for all seasons

Metropolis, one of China's top fashion magazines, has named the winners of its 2008 Men of the Year competition, whose categories are as interesting as the results. Avant-garde film director Yan Po is the Man of the Year With Most Original Ideas after his overnight successes with the movie Aspirin and the TV series New Marriage Age. The Most Fashionable Man of the year in Beijingers' eyes is Alec Su, the Taiwanese pop star and actor. He became famous as a member of the Taiwan band The Little Tigers, formed in 1988, and later for his first mainland TV series Princess Returning Pearl.

Gymnast Li Xiaopeng won the award of Man of the Year With The Most Enterprising Spirits. Li won two gold medals at the Beijing Olympics, taking him past the legendary Li Ning as the holder of a Chinese record of 16 Olympic and world titles.

The Man of the Year With Best Life Attitude title has gone to the former CCTV anchor Huang Jianxiang (pictured), one of the best known sports commentators in China.Having already been the subject of media scrutiny in China for his alleged affair with Super Girl Zhang Liangying and a widely publicized divorce from his ex-wife, Huang's commentary earned him public ridicule in newspapers and Internet. He then resigned from CCTV and joined Hong Kong's Phoenix TV.
