Brazilian growth

Brazil's economy expanded more than expected in the third quarter, as investment and consumer spending remained resilient in the early days of the global economic crisis.

Gross domestic product jumped 6.8 percent from the same period a year earlier, more than the median 5.8 percent forecast in a Bloomberg survey of 31 analysts. Brazil's $1.3 trillion economy climbed 1.8 percent from the second quarter, the national statistics agency said yesterday.
