Buying a piece of history

Buddhist statues, ceramics, jade carvings, paintings, and gold and silver wares will feature China Auction's upcoming 2008 international autumn session.

In the ceramics part, more than 40 pieces are from the periods before the Yuan Dynasty (1206-1368). Highlights include the ancient Yaozhou ceramic series, which feature black, blue and bluish-white glazed works spanning from the Tang (618-907) to Jin (1115-1234) dynasties.

A ceramic plate of the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127), which is adorned with peony patterns and measuring 64.3 cm in diameter, is one of the rare items up for grabs.
