Since China's reform and opening-up policy began in 1978, Sino-US relations have followed an unusually tortuous course, but 30 years in development of bilateral ties was just the blink of an eye to history, according to James Zimmerman, chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) in China.
Reviewing the history of Sino-US ties, it was not short of stormy moments, but the overall movement of the 30-year relationship was forward.
"I don't think anyone realized at the beginning of the economic reform that it would bring development so quickly and that the achievements in trade would be at the level of today," AmCham chairman told China Daily.
