Updated: 2008-12-03 07:42 Hard to regain confidence Comment on "Dairy goods' exports see massive fall" (China Daily, Dec 2) I wonder what effects the scandal had on domestic sales of Chinese dairy products. The story makes it look like only foreigners don't trust China-made dairy. Yet I think Chinese domestic confidence in milk products has dropped too. Otherwise, why do dairy groups relentlessly advertise for their products in China? Wonder on China Daily website This is just the beginning of the awakening consciousness that insecticides, pesticides and other unhealthy farm practices will ultimately damage our reputation as a reliable producer of agricultural products and endanger lives of all. A stroll out to the neighboring fields would shock you to see all the discarded chemicals, with the farmers having no idea of proper dosage and uses of most of these. What happened to the advanced natural growing methods China developed over the last 2,000 years? Alpine99 on China Daily website Why graduates want to be civil servants Comment on "Civil service pay reform to continue" (China Daily website, Dec 2) Civil servants in fact enjoy stable working conditions and relatively good welfare schemes. Now their salaries are on the rise. Maybe that's the reason young graduates struggle to join the civil service. Compared with them, the people in private companies can hardly get a stable life and good pay. Sapphire on China Daily website Discrimination not right Comment on "President Hu visits patients on World AIDS Day" (China Daily website, Dec 2) Though AIDS is a fatal disease, it can be controlled. People in the society should abandon their prejudice and discrimination against HIV carriers and AIDS patients. We should give those HIV/AIDS patients more care and warmth. At the same time, efforts should be made to promote mass awareness of HIV prevention and control. Our government has been attaching great importance to this agenda. Tom on China Daily website Wo deserved death Comment on "EU criticism amounts to interference" (China Daily, Dec 2) EU criticism over the execution of Wo Weihan is unreasonable and cannot be accepted. As a man found guilty his execution is completely right in accordance with Chinese law. Everyone is equal before the law. Overseas on China Daily website Readers' comments are welcome.
