Special supplement: Opening ceremony shows 'colorful tourism'

GUANGZHOU: Colorful Guangdong was shown to audiences on the night of Nov 28 at the opening ceremony of its 2008 International Tourism and Culture Festival and Pan Pearl River Delta Tourism Promotion Convention.

Broadcast live by Guangzhou Television, the ceremony included a parade of floats, singing performances, dancing, a symphony and a "golden carnival".

Some performances represented "the ocean culture, mountain culture and metropolitan culture of different tourism resources in Guangdong", said Ning Xiaozhou, director of the opening ceremony. "We showed the audience that Guangdong is a very dynamic and colorful place."
