Sui's winter wonderland

For Chinese-American designer Anna Sui, China is a wonderland full of opportunity and surprises. The New York fashion master, hailed by Time Magazine as one of the top five fashion icons of this decade, last weekend appeared at Shin Kong Shopping Plaza, where she opened her first clothes franchise store and cosmetic counters in Beijing.

With blue fingernails, big purple flower rings and a purple-fringed scarf draped around her neck, Sui looked elegant and trendy.

"But I find women here are more fashionable than I would have thought," Sui said. "When I am in China and see Chinese women for myself I find they are so cool, so independent and open-minded."
