Where fools Lush in

While it's little more than an austere sprawl of wooden tables and chairs, there's good reason Lush is one of Beijing's most celebrated nightspots. It was a testimony to the 24-hour establishment's staying power when it celebrated its fifth birthday last month. Few nightspots have clung to life so long in a city where bars open and close in - and like - the blink of an eye.

During the nightly Happy Hour, icy buckets piled with seven Tsingtaos come to tables for 70 yuan a pop from 8 pm to 10 pm. Monday night is Movie Night, when couch potatoes can munch free desserts with meal orders from 8 pm.

Wednesday night's Pub Quiz attracts scores of smart types, who scratch their heads raw to snag the bottle of Jack Daniel's that goes to the team who answers the most stumpers.
