Kazakhstan people celebrate Nauriz, a festival on March 22.

For centuries the open spaces of Kazakhstan were a bridge between East and West, a main line of the Silk Road that connected countries for trade and cultural exchange. Dynamic demographics and migration from historical upheavals have made Kazakhstan - which gained sovereignty in December 1991 - one of the most poly-ethnic and religiously diverse states in the world.
