On thanksgiving night, the China Philharmonic Orchestra will play Verdi's Requiem at the Forbidden City Concert Hall to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of the great Austrian conductor Herbert von Karajan (1908-89).

Under the baton of Yu Long, artistic director of the China Philharmonic Orchestra, the concert will feature leading Chinese soprano Sun Xiuwei, mezzo-soprano Yang Jie, tenor Warren Mok, baritone Gong Dongjian and the Shanghai Opera House Choir and the Choir of the China Opera and Ballet Company.
