Setting a good example
The no-layoff strategy taken by some enterprises in Shanxi province sets a good example for their peers in other parts of China, says an article on the website of Xinhua News Agency. The following is an excerpt:
In the face of operation difficulties, several large private enterprises in Shanxi province have chosen to buck the trend by jointly deciding not to cut any staff.
Instead, they have offered workers rotation training and temporary leave with basic monthly salaries of no less than 600 yuan. These measures have made workers feel warm during this cold financial winter.
It's natural to cut staff during an economic crisis, and no one will blame these enterprises. But the practice of continuing to hire these workers shows the strong sense of social responsibility of these enterprises .
It's obvious that their measures will add operating costs in the short term for them, but in the long run, they may bring benefits. Workers are the core component of an enterprise, so the practice of continuing to hire them during the economic downturn has definitely won the hearts of workers who were supposed to be laid off. These workers will in turn show sympathy to these enterprises and actively support these enterprises. This will form a solid foundation for their future development.
