Stocks decline on global economic woes

Most Chinese stocks fell in shrinking turnover yesterday as profit-taking and concern about fresh supplies of equity caused them to underperform foreign markets, which rallied on the US rescue of Citigroup.
The Shanghai Composite Index ended down 0.44 percent at 1888.715 points, after dropping 3.67 percent on Monday.
Losing Shanghai stocks outnumbered gainers by 581 to 325. Turnover in Shanghai A shares shrank to two-week low of 45.5 billion yuan from Monday's 54.6 billion yuan.
