Special Supplement: Wage target set to double in five years

Residents of Guangdong province are expected to double their salary in the next five years and all will be included in a medical insurance system soon, according to the provincial government.

The government plans to raise the salary of working people and aims to double the current level by 2012.

To reach the targets, the average wage will have to be raised by 14 percent year-on-year starting this year, the Guangdong labor and social security department said.
