Chinese fighter pilot He Xin was bleeding profusely after three bullets from a Japanese aircraft ripped through his chest. The 26-year-old captain knew he was going to die, but wanted to inflict one more blow against the invading enemy. Rather than steer his plane down for an emergency landing, he flew directly into another Japanese plane. It meant certain death, but this was the price the young Kuomintang officer was willing to pay to defend his motherland.
