Recall of computers

Lenovo, Dell, HP, Toshiba and Acer have decided to recall some of their laptops that use Sony batteries produced between Oct 2004 and June 2005, an announcement from the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said yesterday.

The batteries could be liable to overheating, the announcement said. The total number of laptops involved in China is about 4,000, and the computer companies have promised to replace the batteries for free.
