On a high note

To mark the 110th anniversary of the birth of the late dramatist Tian Han (1898-1968), Dunhuang Culture Promotion Foundation Ltd and China National Peking Opera Company presented Xie Yaohuan, the Peking Opera play written by Tian, at Chang'an Grand Theater on Saturday and Sunday.

Premiering in 1962 and featuring the leading Peking Opera actress Du Jinfang in the title role, Xie Yaohuan, the play tells the story of a talented woman official in Emperor Wu Zetian's court, who exercises power impartially and protects ordinary people while struggling with the bigwigs.
