Bomb attempt thwarted

Peruvian police arrested a man on Monday for allegedly attempting to carry out a bomb attack during the annual Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit.

The 31-year-old man, identified as Edwin Vallalodid, was carrying 36 grenades to Lima when he was arrested, Julio Vergara, in charge of the summit's security arrangements, told local radio station RPP.
